Suzanne Vinnik is a globally recognized opera singer, photographer, entrepreneur, and the Creative Director and designer behind byVINNIK, the size-inclusive luxury fashion label she founded in 2019. Hailed as one of the most influential women in classical music, Suzanne has built a multidimensional career that bridges the worlds of performance, style, and advocacy—with bold design, ethical manufacturing, and inclusivity at the heart of her work.
Suzanne’s pivot to fashion began while still performing, when she started upcycling her own stage gowns renting and eventually selling them alongside a curated mix of contemporary, luxury, and archival vintage pieces —through Shoperatic, the online social marketplace she co-founded. Focused on empowering women in classical music, Shoperatic quickly became a culture changing platform for artists.
Inspired to create a brand of her own, Suzanne launched byVINNIK, an ethically made womenswear line designed and produced in Los Angeles. byVINNIK has since been worn by performers and celebrities around the globe, spanning classical music, Broadway, television, film, and sports. The brand is beloved by people worldwide, stylists and costume designers for its original, curve-celebratory silhouettes and editorial flair.
Her designs have been seen on HBO Max’s The White Lotus (worn by Jennifer Coolidge and Natasha Rothwell), RuPaul’s Drag Race, The Today Show, and Access Hollywood. Paula Pell recently appeared in byVINNIK during the SNL 50th Anniversary celebrations, and The Hollywood Reporter named an upcycled byVINNIK piece one of “The Best Sustainable Looks of This Red Carpet Season.” The brand has also been featured in Vogue, InStyle, The Wrap, and on Grammy-winning artist Karen Slack, who has worn byVINNIK on stages from Carnegie Hall to the Lyric Opera of Chicago and featured in numerous best-dressed lists in publications at the Grammy Awards.
Suzanne partnered with Dani Sauter and CitizenM Hotels, curating a custom experience room and designing two exclusive pieces for the opening of their NoMa location in Washington, D.C.—blending byVINNIK’s aesthetic with immersive hospitality design.
A celebrated soprano, Suzanne’s favorite roles included Leila in Zandra Rhodes’ production of The Pearl Fishers, Manon Lescaut, Nedda in Pagliacci, Mimi and Musetta in La Bohème, and Violetta in La Traviata. She’s performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Pittsburgh Opera, Florida Grand Opera, and internationally in Italy, Norway (for Queen Sonja), and Russia, including a performance before members of Congress alongside then–Vice President Joe Biden.
Suzanne is also a published photographer, guest columnist, stylist, and host of Diva Who Hustles, a web series for The Dallas Opera Network. She holds a B.M. in Vocal Performance from Texas Christian University, with additional studies at Mannes College of Music, Otis College of Design, and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, where she studied under Renata Scotto. In 2019, she was an Administration Fellow with The Dallas Opera’s Hart Institute for Women Conductors.
Recent accolades include “Outstanding Designer of the Year” and “Best Dressed” from the Full Figured Industry Awards, and byVINNIK being named a finalist for Glossy’s “Inclusive Brand of the Year.” The label recently closed FWCurve at Fashion Week Columbus—the largest plus-size fashion show in the U.S. where she spoke on a panel further cementing byVINNIK’s mission to make every person feel seen, celebrated, and powerful.
